| Mom recalls shielding child from 'huge dogs'
A lot is being lost here from the original story. Rolo left a scratch on the victim, if he was a vicious dog he would have taken a huge chunk out of her. I can understand her being afraid, but to have a dog destroyed over a scratch is sad. Put the owner in training, put the victim in counseling, socialize the dog better and get on with life. .
Jersey gets ditched as warehouses settle in Pa.
The siren of Pennsylvania also may be the recipient of some unwitting help from, of all people, Gov. Jon Corzine, who is pushing a proposal to dramatically raise tolls on the Turnpike and Parkway to pay off state bond debt and finance highway improvements. As a result, those with a stake in New Jersey's Turnpike-centric warehouse industry are growing even more skittish. That's why Mike McGuinness, chief executive of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties/NJ Chapter, banged out a letter to the governor Feb. 15, asking him to reconsider his plan. He attached a long list of companies that have recently signed warehouse leases in the Lehigh Valley. "The industrial activity in Pennsylvania is booming," he wrote, while the New Jersey markets are already experiencing unprecedented vacancy rates, which are projected to go even higher." As an alternative, McGuinness proposed, among other measures, raising the gas tax and spreading out the toll burden -- particularly on the east-west Interstates 78 and 80.

This special-edition, limited-production Corvette may be the Everest of American high-performance. It is certainly (and by far) the most powerful, quickest and all-out fastest Corvette ever produced by General Motors, packing a 620-horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 capable of pushing the car to more than 200 mph and to 60 mph (in first gear) in about 3.4 seconds. In addition to eye-popping performance, expect wallet-draining price-gouging at dealerships. The ZR1's six-figure MSRP likely will balloon by 50 percent to 75 percent or more, at least during the first few months the car is available. 2009 VW Microbus Base price: $22,000 Availability estimate: Fall A legend returns! VW has decided the times are once again ripe for a reasonably sized, good-on-gas, family-friendly and road-trip-ready icon.

Hey, we all like the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry, but enough is enough! I'm not saying that a balanced schedule is needed, but I'd like to see it a little less unbalanced. The Ugly: Steroids and Performance Enhancers: Major League Baseball appears to be the only sport that can't get passed this issue. Football has gotten passed this because the main violators are interior players...mostly unknown to the casual fan. There are no records for Offensive Linemen to break. Baseball, on the other hand, is a sport where records mean a great deal on a historic level and when cherished records are broken by those who have been caught or accused of cheating then it becomes a problem on a large public scale. They can keep abusers out of the Hall of Fame, but they can't take away the records. Steroids or not Barry Bonds did break the home run record.
