The rich mix of 100 paintings, drawings, photographs and tourist souvenirs supplies the back story to important advancements in 19th-century art by relating them to the place where they were conceived. It situates green thickets, starry nights and red-streaked skies by such well-known artists as Jean Baptiste Camille Corot, Jean Francois Millet and Claude Monet within the well-traveled Fontainebleau forest and nearby villages of Barbizon and Chailly.

This relational view is expanded through early photographs of the forest and its environs. Prints made from paper negatives and collodion processes are hung next to paintings and drawings to reveal a shared vision of place across different media. Monet's majestic tree-lined scene of the road through Fontainebleau, for example, is nearly identical to the pictures shot earlier by photographers Gustave Le Gray and Eugene Cuvelier.

NASCAR: Stewart, Busch tongue-lashed

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Tony Stewart and Kurt Busch were ordered to steer clear of each other Saturday in hopes of preventing a repeat of their high-octane confrontation on the first day of Speedweeks.

NASCAR officials summoned Stewart and Busch for a follow-up meeting Saturday morning, just hours after the two drivers tangled on the track — and possibly in the NASCAR officials' trailer afterward. The entire garage was buzzing over Busch allegedly insulting Stewart and Stewart retaliating with a punch — claims no one would confirm or deny.

NASCAR spokesman Jim Hunter said officials have not decided whether to penalize either driver, but delivered a stern warning.

"You two guys better give each other plenty of space," Hunter said. "You clearly understand where we are with this and we're going to continue to think about it."

Hunter said any resulting penalties would be announced Monday or Tuesday.

Hot in Fall

The sweaters and coats of winter are classic trenches with a twist, the snug boots have all taken on classic cuts — but with a funky heel, a bright stripe somewhere, or even just a zebra print sole. This season it’s easy to not take fashion too seriously. You won’t find it hard to buy select pieces that suit you, be unbelievably trendy and still look like you’re not trying too hard. The cardinal rule does, of course, apply: do not go for anything that you know doesn’t look good on you. And finally, have fun with it. After all, fashion revolves around a little bit of fun, an abundance of frivolity and a touch of obsession, all to make up the perfect fall wardrobe.

Back to BasicsI am a rare breed. Only a man who enjoys the drudgery of shopping will readily admit his undying appreciation for the perfect suit.
